A property of 75.60 sq.m. that includes a dilapidated, roofless residence, in the Emporio area, in Nisyros. The plot is even and buildable. The building is pre-existing from 1955, constructed with local materials and perfectly harmonized with the landscape. It was probably a roofed building with a single space with a loft in the background and an internal staircase leading to the second level where the enclosed courtyard was formed. This is a property with many potential uses in an excellent location that offers peace and tranquility. Nisyros is a historical site, a site of special architectural interest and is controlled by the YNMTED of Rhodes, the SA and the Kos town planning department. On Nisyros there are currently four inhabited settlements, Mandraki, Palli, Nikia and Emporios which date back at least to the 16th century. Perhaps the oldest of the four settlements mentioned above is Emporios. It is an initially fortified settlement built on the northern slopes of the volcano's caldera, at an altitude of approximately 400 m. which is 8 km from the port and the main settlement of Nisyros, Mandraki. Emporios has been declared a place of special architectural value and is protected by both the Ministry of Culture (Government Gazette 455/3-8-1981) and the Ministry of Environment (Government Gazette 237 D/2002). The houses were almost always narrow-fronted and two-storeyed. The buildings were covered with a flat roof through which water was collected in the cisterns. The external walls were made of stonework while the floors and the roof frame were made of wooden beams. The openings had stone frames, with horizontal or slightly arched stone lintels. The surfaces of the external walls were unplastered and had wide joints made of lime mortar with local aggregates. As mentioned above, the buildings were two-storeyed, a layout that served the functionality of the house. Specifically, because the plots were too small, it was impossible to develop all the functions of the house on one level, namely animal stables, a kitchen, a sleeping room and a living room.
