Platsa is a settlement of the Regional Unit of Messinia, with a population of 162 inhabitants, according to the 2011 Census. Administratively it belongs to the Community of Platsa and is part of the Municipal Unit of Lefktro, of the Municipality of West Mani. It is built at an altitude of 362 meters, overlooking the sea. Its name means plateau and it was the mountainous part of the ancient town of Pafnos. It was the centre of Exo Mani (Exo Mani, or Messinian Mani, or West Mani) and the largest settlement, with 1,425 inhabitants. It was the seat of a municipality and a diocese. Today (2022), the population has decreased and the Public Services, have been closed. It has a football field (Platsa Stadium) and an open theatre (Open Theatre of West Mani) with 1,560 seats. On Carnival Monday, there is also a carnival event at Kabinari, where the 10th century church of Agios Nikolaos is located. In this lovely village, a plot of land of 448 square meters is for sale. One part of the plot (422.90 sq.m.) is located within the pre-23 settlement limits of Platsa and is even and buildable by derogation. The second part of the plot (25,14 m²) is located outside the plan and outside the pre-23 boundaries of the settlement of Platsa, it is not buildable and not buildable.
