The port of Gavrio is in the northwest of the island, and just 15 minutes’ drive away from the houses. It provides the main ferry connection to mainland Greece, with the port of Rafina 2 hours away by ferry, and to other Aegean islands (e.g. Mykonos, Paros, Santorini). Gavrio has amenities such as supermarkets, bakeries, bars, tavernas and cafeterias. It is well-connected to the rest of the island, e.g. Batsi, Chora.
Andros as an island offers a huge selection of beaches, large and small, with or without beach bars and sun lounger seating. Some beaches (e.g. Agios Petros, a 10-minute drive from Gavrio) also offer the possibility of water sports. Some of the best beaches on Andros are Vitali, Pisolimiona, Zorgkos and are within 30 minutes’ drive of the house. Andros has a network of natural conservation areas and signposted, mapped footpaths.
How to get to the island of Andros
All ferries to Andros leave from Rafina, the second largest port of Athens on the east coast. A total number of six to nine ferries per day (depending on the time of the year) will take you to Andros (2 hours’ trip) before they continue on to the islands of Tinos and Mykonos. The port of Rafina is easily reached by people travelling from abroad. You will land at AIA (Athens International Airport) and then you can catch a taxi or bus to Rafina (30 minutes from the airport). You can time your arrival to catch a ferry to Andros on the same day as you land in Athens, then after two hours of sailing on the Aegean Sea you will arrive on Andros. If this is not possible, there are hotels at the port of Rafina that can accommodate you for the night and, the next morning, you can make your way down to the ferry gate (some hotels offer a complimentary shuttle service to/from the airport for their guests).
PRICE: €600,000 (approx.UK £535,000) for the whole plot & buildings.
Please note that the price will be updated according to the progress of works in the landscaping.
