Astrida is a lowland settlement of Thassos. It is located just in the southern part of the island and a little inland, above the cape of Salonikiou and on the ring road connecting Thassos with Limenaria, at an average altitude of 75 m above sea level. It is about 43 km south-south-west of the island's capital. In antiquity it was the vineyard of Thassos, and numerous ancient ruins, mostly of linen for pressing the grapes and storing the wine, reinforce this belief. The first forms an enclosed structure in the shape of a natural "pool".
