A unique 150+ years old Traditional Detached Stone- build house, in the vilage of Vrakades with unique sea view. Lot size : 4.000 m2 The property dates back to the mid of the 19th century. The plot area is 4.000 square meters and apart from the trees there are amphitheater terraces (‘pezoules’ as they are called in Ikaria) within the plot for cultivation or decorative plants or trees. The house was built in the traditional way that was used back at that time. It is all build by stones and has an external stone staircase to the upper floor. At this part of the Aegean Sea, buildings of this type are known as "tower" (Pirgos in Greek language) and nowadays it is difficult to find such a building intact and exactly as it was more than 150 years ago without any intervention. The old settlement of Vrakades lies to the west of the island, about 260m above sea level. This picturesque village is spread out in an area of lush vegetation below the bare mountaintops of Atheras. Its well cared for houses both old and new, the typical terraces filled with the villagers' cultivation, the main square with its grand church next to the primary school, the historical monument, beautiful cultural center, and the traditional coffee shops complete the picture of this little village. The vicinity of Vrakades lends itself to strolls and hikes on the hill of "Kasteli," which has a breathtaking view at dusk. There is also a small folklore museum in the village.
