The village of Karidi is set in a plateau above Sitia in the hills. It is 20 minutes from Zakros and half an hour from Sitia. A peaceful retreat. Many houses in Karidi are empty and awaiting love and renovation. My house has power and water but needs restoration, which I have sadly been unable to do. It is a reluctant sale The house has a little galley style kitchen with a concrete sink, and a traditional fireplace for cooking. A room beyond the kitchen has a traditional grape treading area, with amazing curvy beams, (not in the pictures as yet). There is a decent sized living room with a small bedroom off of it. Outside is another entrance to a store room (apothiki in Greek). This could be knocked through into the small bedroom for flow and space. There is an outside toilet and a small seating area out front with another large useful concrete sink. The views from the house are across an old allotment to houses on the other side and the hills beyond. It is a stunning location. There is a shared old community oven in the village and the old springs where people used to wash clothes etc. The cafe neon is still active
